A Day in the Life of Haley

What Does a Typical Workday Look Like for You?

“I usually start the morning by planning my day with anything I need to do. This has more to do with monthly planning than daily or weekly, but I usually start with the larger and more complicated pages I have first. Then, I’ll finish the month with simpler pieces.”

Describe Your Perfect Saturday

“The three months out of the year when it’s not too hot in Florida, I’d say a boat day would be ideal. My friend’s dad has a really nice boat that they keep, so we’ll do that sometimes. We haven’t had time to in a while, but that’s probably an ideal Saturday.”

How Do You Get Out of a Creative Block?

“I don’t know if this is as much about creativity as it is about catching errors, but what I try to do for everything I write is get it most of the way done. Then, I’ll start another. But I’ll go back and read the first one I worked on a few hours later or the next day. I found that getting fresh eyes on a piece will help me find mistakes I wouldn’t see right away.

“Usually, I just make the language more readable and straightforward. I’ll also correct the passive voice to the active voice.”

What Motivates You to Get Up for Work?

“Probably money to travel. I want to travel basically everywhere. But I really want to spend a month in London in the spring and work from there.

“The time zones there are perfect for me because I’m a bit of a night owl. And when you’re over there, work starts at three o’clock and ends much later at night.”

If You Could Have an Unlimited Supply of One Thing, What Would It Be?

“Airline miles.”

What Are the Top Three Places You’d Like to Travel?

“Aside from London, I really want to go to Vienna, Austria. I’d also like to go to Spain.

“I’m definitely a history nerd. That’s why I love London so much. There’s so much history in London, especially for Americans. There’s a lot of super consequential history that happened there that affects our lives. For example, the Magna Carta, which was basically the first Human Bill of Rights, was written in that area.

“I’m such a nerd for that kind of stuff.”

Where Do You See Yourself in the Five Years?

“I definitely want to keep working in law. I got into law because I was actually going to go to law school. But then, I decided to work at a law firm for a little bit. I’m really glad I didn’t go to law school because it’s so much better for me to be adjacent to law than working in it.

“I’ll probably still be marketing, too. In my last job, I got more into some technical SEO stuff, so that was a good experience. I also want to get more involved in content planning.”
