A Day in the Life of Amanda McCrea
What Do You Like Most About Your Job?
“I really like explaining complicated things to people and making their lives easier. For example, SEO is so complicated. But because I have worked in SEO, I understand it, and it’s nice to bridge that gap for people who are super smart but not as familiar with SEO. It’s nice to be able to explain those concepts.”
How Do You Feel Your Attorney License Helps You in Your Work?
“I think that you learn a way of thinking in law school that’s helpful. You also learn some ethical and general rules surrounding advertising for lawyers. You know things that they have to be careful about.
“So while I’m not creating the advertisements or the marketing content, it’s still nice that I’m aware of some of those issues that might come up with them. Like they would never want to say, I guarantee you’ll get this case result. It’s helpful to be aware of that sort of thing.”
What Motivates You to Get Up for Work?
“I think it’s really about helping people. I enjoy helping people, whether it’s by keeping everything on schedule, by explaining concepts that they may not be familiar with, or by helping them see the big picture of their campaign.”
Describe Your Perfect Saturday
“I would probably go out to breakfast or brunch with my husband. I’d get some pancakes and then go around and explore the museums. I live near Washington DC, and we have a ton of great museums that I haven’t seen in several years. I love the Museum of American History. It’s really cool, and I haven’t gotten to go to some of the newer museums that have opened yet. I’d like to see the Museum of African American History and also the Women’s History Museum when it opens.”
What’s Something Most People Don’t Know About You?
“I think a lot of people think that I’m quiet, but I’m born to be on stage. I grew up singing in chorus and performing solos, but I’ve also done a little bit of improv. And I like to act. And yeah, that kind of thing.
“I don’t have as much time for it now, but at my other company, we had a retreat where we would always have an awards ceremony, and then we would go to Karaoke afterward. So I was famous for my Shakira songs at Karaoke.
Where Do You See Yourself in the Future?
“I see myself continuing to build my skills in marketing. New developments in AI and marketing are really transforming things. I’m kind of an AI nerd. I love learning new ways to use it, what it’s good at, what it’s not good at, and that sort of thing. It would also be great if I eventually could mentor others in the field.”
“Personally, I would like to buy a house at some point because I have two dogs, and they deserve a fenced-in yard. And I know that if I did buy a house, my husband and I would probably end up fostering 20 dogs and cats. That’s the future I envision.”
